-
If your child is 0-3 years of age, Early Intervention is an approach to helping children from birth to three learn fundamental developmental skills.
Early Intervention services include speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, special instruction, and case management services.
If you have concerns with your child's development, contact your county's Early Intervention Program to set up an intake and multi-disciplinary evaluation to determine eligibility.
If your child is over 3 years of age, Preschool special education services are instructional services and/or programs that are provided to children who are found to have an eligible disability or developmental delay that impacts their learning.
If you suspect that your child has a delay, you can contact your school district to register your child and request a preschool evaluation.
Please be sure to check our Resources page for more details.
-
An IFSP, or Individualized Family Service Plan, is a written plan created to meet the individual needs, concerns, and priorities of children, from birth to age 3, and their families.
This plan is written following an Early Intervention multi-disciplinary evaluation where your child's eligibility has been established.
This written plan outlines goals for your child's progress and development and provides your service providers with insight into your child's specific needs.
IFSPs are developed and used while your child is enrolled in the Early Intervention Program from age 0-3.
-
An IEP, or Individualized Education Plan, is a legal document that is designed to support students with disabilities.
This is the plan that your child will receive once determining eligibility for preschool special education services through your school district.
An IEP outlines the program and services that your child qualifies for.
-
The best way to determine what services would best meet the needs of your child is to talk with your pediatrician and go through the evaluation process.
-
G&D currently provides Early Intervention services, a special education and integrated Preschool Program, itinerant, and evaluation services.
-
G&D's Early Intervention program serves children from birth to age three.

-
We do not currently have the resources to accept insurance or private pay patients.
Please contact the county or your school district for assistance.
-
After working with the county for an evaluation and the creation of an IFSP, your service coordinator will connect you with a service provider.
-
If you think that your child is not walking, talking, or behaving as expected for their age, it’s best to reach out to your child’s pediatrician.
They will be able to review developmental milestones and discuss your specific concerns.
-
Yes, we are able to evaluate your child.
G&D is contracted with Sullivan, Orange, Ulster, and Delaware counties and is able to complete Early Intervention and preschool evaluations.
Please note that if we complete your child's evaluation, you will still need to work with your service coordinator or school district for service placement.
Completing an evaluation with us does not guarantee a placement in our programs.
-
New York State has specific developmental guidelines for each age.
If you still have concerns about your child after a few months, you can request a re-evaluation.
It’s possible your child met the milestones at the time of first eval, but with age and a new set of guidelines, they may qualify for services.
