G&D’s Early Intervention Services
Early Intervention Services are a vital source of support for families navigating the challenges of raising young children with developmental delays.
At G&D Speech, Occupational, & Physical Therapy Services, we understand how crucial these formative first three years can be.
We are dedicated to providing the necessary support to help your children flourish and gain valuable life and social skills.
If you believe that your child is in need of Early Intervention services, please contact your county's Early Intervention department to begin the referral process.
Our Program
When it comes to helping children with special needs learn the skills necessary to positively integrate into the world around them, we take a comprehensive approach designed to enrich the lives of our students and their families.
Our program includes a range of services tailored to the individual needs of each child:
-
Focusing on improving your child's fine and gross motor skills, sensory processing, and self-care skills.
Occupational therapists at G&D are committed to helping children achieve independence in all facets of daily living, allowing them to engage more fully with the world around them.
-
Our speech-language therapists work with your child and care team to develop customized strategies to overcome various communication challenges.
Whether the difficulty is connected to sensory processing, speech production, understanding and processing language, using language in social contexts, or other challenges, our team empowers your child to express themselves and interact with others effectively.
-
For children struggling with gross motor skills, our physical therapists offer interventions aimed at developing muscle strength, coordination, and movement patterns.
These are critical components in crawling, walking, and other physical activities, foundational to a child’s ability to explore and interact with their environment.
-
Beyond the physical and communicative challenges, some children may face cognitive or social delays.
Special instruction at G&D focuses on educational activities and strategies that foster learning, play skills, and social interaction, tailored to each child’s developmental level.
-
Our service coordinators work closely with families to ensure that children receive the support that they need throughout their Early Intervention journey.
We help to guide families through the process - connecting with providers, coordinating supplemental evaluations, developing Individualized Family Service Plans, connecting with providers, and assisting with transitions to preschool or other programs.
Our goal is to support families every step of the way, helping to remove barriers and ensure timely, effective services for each child.
Our Holistic Approach
At G&D, we believe in a holistic approach to early intervention.
Understanding that development occurs throughout multiple areas, our services work together to provide a comprehensive support system.
Through individualized therapy sessions tailored to your child's unique needs, we are committed to nurturing their growth in every possible way.
Additionally, our program is designed to seamlessly integrate with our Developmental Group Program, allowing children to apply the skills they learn in therapy within a group setting.
This combination of personalized care and group interaction is pivotal, offering children opportunities to practice social skills, adapt to different environments, and learn from their peers.
The Importance of Early Intervention
Early Intervention is founded on the principle that early attention to developmental concerns can significantly impact a child's ability to learn and grow.
By addressing these issues at a young age, children are better equipped with the foundational skills needed for their future educational and personal paths.
These goals encompass immediate developmental gains and foster a sense of independence, self-esteem, and social belonging in the children we serve.
Comprehensive Support for Families
Recognizing that the family is an integral part of a child's development, G&D strongly emphasizes supporting not just the child but the family as a whole.
Our therapists and coordinators work closely with families, providing education, resources, and emotional support. We strive to empower parents and caregivers with the knowledge and skills to effectively support their child's development at home and in their peer groups.
The Heart of Our Early Intervention Program
G&D's Early Intervention services are more than a collection of therapies; they represent a commitment to the potential within every child.
Every child has their own challenges and strengths, and our unique and tailored approach helps meet them exactly where they are. By providing a solid foundation in these early years, we work to set each child on a path to lifelong learning and growth, moving families from surviving to thriving.
